Triple Couloirs

I had the wonderful opportunity to do Triple Couloirs on Dragontail last weekend. The route was in great shape. The ice sections were a little thin but easily climbable. Unfortunately, 8 mile road was closed to the trailhead, so we had the walk the extra 3 miles each way. We started hiking on Saturday and made it to Colchuck lake around 6pm. We made camp on the frozen lake and had great views of Dragontail where we would be climbing the next day. We got up at 4am and started the route at 5:30am. We soloed the first couloir and made it to the first ice pitch. We ended up doing one pitch and then simul climbing the rest of the ice to the second couloir. This involved the steepest section of ice on the route. The rest of the route we simul climbed and made it to the summit at 11am. We enjoyed the views at the top with a group that was behind us and then headed down the lake and broke camp. We finally made it down the car at 4pm after a brutal descent of the trail. Luckily our beers were nice and cold when we arrived at the car.
